  1. This is my problem… With all of the companies you’ve mentioned, and ones
I’ve seen while job searching, requires experience. YEARS of experience. I
have the education, the certification, but the experience is what I lack. I
have everything to throw on the table, but that one qualification. And it’s
just so frustrating because this one thing that is SO important is
    literally dragging me down.

    1. how was the schooling? is it really hard? I’m interested in this career. im
hoping to get certified through a community college program. Any useful
      information would be helpful

  2. I just lost my job this week. I have been considering working from home
now. I’ve actually looked into medical transcription too.

    1. +DHBW Fans my current MCB certificate program offers an apprentice work but
due to my current situation I won’t be able to attend these “on site” jobs.
I was hoping to get certified as a coding and billing specialist and just
get straight to working under a company at home vs starting my business 😑

    2. +Atiya Karim I will be honest, most companies offer work at home to ones
with a few years of experience. It will better to start in a medical
facility first then transition to work from home.

  3. what are the chances of me getting hired after being certified?I know some
require you to have experienced working

  4. DHBW, thanks for your video, it’s very informative. I have graduated from
medical billing and coding. I am working on my associates degree and
studying to prepare for my CBCS certification exam. Is it possible to work
from home for a billing service or clearing house?
    Thank You
    Peggy Sue

    1. +Peggy Sue It is 🙂 The problem with most companies is they require at
least 2 years or more working in the field. I would suggest starting with
your local physicians and hospitals just to gain the experience.

    2. +DHBW Fans I am planning on looking for a position in billing for some type
of insurance company. I have been unsure of the names of billing services
to apply to. I understand what Yasmin is saying about being frustrated by
not having work experience to qualify for available jobs.

    3. +DHBW Fans PS. yes i understand why they wouldn’t hire someone with no
experience in the field to work from home. You have to earn the that
privilege. DHBW Fans, are there really legitimate typing jobs where you can
work from home? Something like that would be perfect, ‘while I’m still in
      school.

  7. can you do a video on refresher courses for medical coding and billing. I
went to school for medical assistant in 2001 and never got a job. I
currently work as a cna and I am finishing up degree in health care admin,
but I want more income in my home so I am looking into refresher courses so

  10. Very useful information….but….What about entry level positions? I have
already completed my certificate course at a school and have been
certified. I have NOT achieved my state certification. If I never get the
chance to have at a position in billing/coding how will I ever get a 2-3
    year experience level? Thanks

  11. Thank you very much for this very informative video! I am considering a
mid-life career change after being forced into semi-retirement due to the
recession. Medical billing and coding seemed like a good choice. From what
I can tell, in order to gain that two or three years experience (after you
are certified), you must first try to find an in-house entry level job,
such as at a clinic or hospital, before you will be hired for a remote (or
work from home) encoding position. Is that about right? :)

  12. Hello can i ask a question
Can i ask how to study medical coding from home for beginners with no
medical background where to start ? To be certified and pass the exam

    1. Ahima.com or aacp.com have list of approved school in medical billing. One
that I’m aware is on the list (I’m training for medical billing and coding)
